The Great American Cleanup - Green Starts Here

Register your team now—the Keep Peoria Beautiful Great American Cleanup is 9:00am to 12:00pm, Saturday, April 29, 2017.

Help keep Peoria clean, green and beautiful by volunteering at the Keep Peoria Beautiful Great American Cleanup! Your business or organization is invited to be part of the nation’s largest annual community improvement event. Join with friends, neighbors, classmates and colleagues for this citywide litter pickup. It’s a little work and lot of fun!

mapHow can I help?

  • Recruit a team of volunteers from your organization
  • Identify an area in need of cleaning up. It might be your neighborhood, a street or alley, a local park, a parking lot near your business … anywhere litter has collected. Notify us of your target area by returning the enclosed registration form by Wednesday, April 27.
  • On cleanup day, pick up your complementary supplies—trash bags, yard waste bags and gloves
    • Pick up is 8:00am to 10:00am at Glen Oak Learning Center, 2100 N. Wisconsin.
    • Head to your location and start the cleanup
    • Put landscape waste in the paper yard waste bags, not the plastic garbage bags
    • Disposal - please put trash/litter and landscape waste with your weekly garbage pick up
  • What can I recycle?
    • Batteries
    • eWaste, includes TVs and monitors
    • Tires (Peoria Residents only) should be taken to 2301 S. Darst Street, Peoria. City requirements and quantity restrictions apply.
  • Report your collection—very important! Please let us know how many bags of litter your team collected. We need your results for our records & we must know this information if you are participating in the contest. Contact Steve Dunham at (309) 672-6288 or This email address is being protected from spambots. In year's past...

In 2015, we had over 800 volunteers participate in the Great American Cleanup. Fighting Mother Nature in a torrential downpour that lasted all day, Keep Peoria Beautiful Board Members worked alongside the United Way's GENU and many community volunteers to collect over 26 tons of trash, 35,000 pounds of electronics and over 500 tires.

Rain date/alternate date

In case of rain, you may complete your cleanup anytime during the week of May 1. Please report results.
Schools may hold their cleanup anytime during the week of May 1, as school is not in session on Saturday.
